20555 Attention:

Mr. Harold R. Panton, Director

Dear Mr. Denton:

SUBJECT:

Hydrogen Control Owners Group Inclusion of Sandia National Labs Calorimeters in 1/4 Scale Test

Reference:

Letter from Mr. Thomas M. Novak to Mr. J. R. Haley, dated June 25, 1984 HGN-019 The referenced letter requested inclusion in the Hydrogen Control Owners Group (HCOG) 1/4 scale tert facility of flat plate calorimeters provided by Sandia National Laboratory. The HCOG has reviewed available data acquisition channels and determined two of these calorimeters can be placed in the test facility by replacement of two sphere calorimeters.- The flat plate calorimeters will be located adjacent to existing sphere calorimeters and gardon gauges which also measure heat flux. This will provide three redundant measurements at the same location of the same parameter.

Arrangements should be made with Mr. John Hosler at the Electric Power Research Institute (415-855-2785) for shipment of the instruments to the 1/4 scale test facility. Sandia National Laboratory should also provide appropriate information on instrument installation and calibration.

We look forward to working with you and your consultants in completing the 1/4 scale test program.

Yours very truly, S. H. Hobbs, Chairman Hydrogen Control Owners Group SHH:1m cc:
