Dear Mr. Johnson:

As requested, this letter proposes the addition of a Technical Specification surveillance incorporating the steam generator post leak examination program as previously committed (References 1 and 2). Attachment 2 provides the evaluation of significant hazards considerations.

In regards to your request for a Technical Specification requirement to establish, implement, and maintain a secondary coolant chemistry program similar to the PWR reactor systems (Reference 1), Public Service Company subsequently discussed secondary coolant watsr chemistry with Mr. Gary Holahan, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington. Mr. Holahan informed us that a generic letter was being-written addressing Secondary Coolant Water Chemistry Technical Specifications, and advised us to defer submittal until after review of the generic letter. This matter was discussed in recent telephone conversations betweeen Mr. Phil Wagner, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region IV, and Mr. L. Milton McBride, Public Service Company, and it was agreed that we should delay submitting the application until we receive and review the guidelines provided in j the generic letter.
