Pressurizer Surae Line Thermal StratifiGLliQH Gentlemen:
By letters dated January 31, 1991, Alabama Power Company submitted the results of the stress and fatigue analysis required by the subject bulletin for both units of Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) letter dated August 21, 1991, acknowledged receipt of that response and indicated that both units had satisfied the requirements of Bulletin 88-11. The letter also requested that the NRC be informed when all the modifications to Unit 2 whip restraints have been accomplished.
l The surge line whip restraints were removed during the Unit 2 eighth refueling outage.
The removal was based on the elimination of the dynamic L
effects of the surge line piping from the design bases utilizing the l
leak-before-break analyses reviewed and approved by the NRC on l
January 15, 1992. This completes all action requested concerning Bulletin 88-11.
