Gentlemen:

As requested in Reference (a), we would like to provide additional information concerning the design and installation of the new emergency diesel generators for Calvert Cliffs Units 1 and 2. The design of the new diesels and the supporting facilities has progressed to the stage where we beheve that we have beneficial informatien to provide to the Staff. Herefore, we tequest a series of informational meetings with the StalT to discuss various technicalissues. We propose meetings in the areas of scismic design criteria, ASME code requirements, mechanical and electrical design, instrumentation and controls design, and diesel sorveillance requirements. Other topics may be identified during the design process. The intent of these meetings is to provide information in advance of the submittal of the Design Report for Staff approval.

a The first issue that we are prepared to discuss is the seismic desip of the new diesel generator building. A proposed agenda for this meeting is attached. We anticipate that other meetings will follow approximately every other month. As our schedule dewlops, we will continue to discuss the timing of the meetings with yca.

Snould you have any further questions regarding this matter, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.

Very truly yours, f
