Braidwood Units 1 & 2 "Eraidwood Sirulator Pacility" Certification of Sirulator Facility-10CFR 55.45 NPC Docket Nos. 50-456 and 50-457 Gentleren:
The purpose of this letter is to submit information pursuant to 10CPR 55.45.b.5 in order to renew the certif ication of the Braidwood Simulation Pacility. This subrittal for certification renewal addreares both operating units at Braidwcod Station with Braidwcod Unit 1 serving as the reference plant.
In the section titled " Reg. Guide 1.149 Requirements" of our cert 0 fication report, the requiremente for-dual plant simulation facilities are evaluated and the results deronstrate that the Braidwood Situlator's performance compares favorably with each unit.
In additi n, steady state testing per ANSI /ANS-3 5,1985 Appendix B was performed prior to the January, 1992, " ready for training" date.
These tests corpare the Braidwood simulator performance to Braidwood Unit 1 performance with favorable results.
The attachment to this letter contains two NRC Form 47 4's, ie, one l'or each docket number and two copies of the Renewal Certification Ecoort, dated April 13, 1992 These docurents certify the Braidrocd !it.lation Pacility neci.s the Hurlear Regulatory Commission's re pa ations. The renewal of cer'.fication of the Braidwood Sit.,iW., ion Pacility is being submitted approximately five months early because the simulator software was significartly upgraded in the fall of 1991. After the software upgrade, the simulator was declared " ready for training" on January 13, 1992.
It is therefore Commonwealth Edison's intent to continue to utilize this facility to conduct operating tests for Brr.idwood operators.

The initial certification submittal dated October, 1988, certified the Braidwood Simulation Pacility to both the Braidwood Station Units 1 & 2, and the Byron Station Units 1 & 2.
This renewal does not address certification of the braidwood Sirulation Facility to Byron Units 1 & 2.
Byron operators are currently tested on the Byron Strulation Pacility which was certified to Byron Station Units 1 & 2 on August 27, 1991.
