Docket No.50-482:
WCNOC Licensee Event Report 95-005-00 Corrective Action Completion Status Gentlemen:
Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC) Licensee Event Report (LER) 95-005-00 reported WCNOC's failure to develop an adequate program for identifying and maintaining emergency lights associated with the Fire Protection' Program.
This failure resulted in WCNOC having inadequate emergency lighting in two areas, and having inadequately identified and maintained emergency lights in several additional areas of the plant.
The emergency lights are needed to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R.
This letter is being issued to advise the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of the status of corrective actions associated with LER 95-005-00.
WCNOC will have all corrective actions completed by December 15, 1995, with the exception of the following items:
- Two new emergency lights will be installed to correct lighting deficiencies.
All activities associated with the installation of two new emergency lights will be completed by March 2, 1996.
- The WCNOC's System Engineering Group conducted a corrective work history review to determine if repetitive or premature failures of emergency lights associated with the WCNOC Fire Protection Program were occurring.
This evaluation determined WCNOC had experienced repetitive emergency light failures.
Therefore, WCNOC is conducting a subsequent evaluation to determine if enhancements to the maintenance program for fire protection emergency lights are required.
All activities associated with this evaluation will be completed by January 15, 1996.
