DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 EVALUATION OF ANKER-HOLTH HYDRAULIC SNUBBERS POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 This letter'is to confirm the August 23, 1984 telephone call between Mr. Ron Seizert of my staff and Mr. Charles Trammel of ycur staf f acknowledging our receipt of a letter written by Mr. John McCabe for Paul-Munroe Energy Products to the Director, Office of. Inspection and Enforcement, dated August 10, 1984.
This letter described the existence of a potential defect in Anker-Holth large bore snubbers and was supplemental to the Paul-Munroe letter to the NRC dated July 12, 1984.
Mr. C. W. Krause of my staff also discussed our receipt of this letter with Mr.
T. Colburn, the regular Point Beach NRC Project Manager, in a second telephone call on August 24, 1984.
As indicated in the August 10 letter, Ankor-Holth large bore snubbers are utilized in safety-related applications at both Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.
Accordingly, and as discussed in the referenced telephone calls, we are presently evaluating the information provided in the August 10 letter to l
determine the potential impact upon Point Beach operations.
We shall keep you advised of these evaluations.
