Please refer to my letter to you dated May 9, 1984 which contained our response to Inspection Report Nos. 50-259/84-10, 50-260/84-10, 50-296/84-10 for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
Enclosed is a revised response which provides clarification for Item 3, " Corrective Steps Which Have Been Taken and Results Achieved." This was discussed with the NRC Resident Inspector,

50-259/84-10, -260/84-10, AND -296/84-10 D. M. VERRELLI'S LETTER TO H. O. PAERIS DATED APRIL 9, 1984 3.
Corrective Sram Which Have Been 'Taken and Results Achieved The instructions specified in this report (SI 4.8.B.2-3a, TI-38, Procedure 10$3 and 1053A) have been revised to correct the procedural violations as follows:
a.
SI 4.8.B.2-3a has been revised to correct and clarif" items 6 and 7.
b.
' TI-38, Procedure 1053 has been revised to correct items 1, 2, 3 and 4.
c.
TI-38, Procedure 1053A has been revised to correct item 5.

Also, more detailed continuous air monitor diagrams and sampling valve
, lineups have been incorporated into TI-38, Procedure 1053 to assist
.radioch'emistry laboratory personnel in performing their duties correctly and more efficiently. Identification tags (item 3) have been attached to all continuous air monitor sampling valves in order to eliminate the possibility.of an incorrect valve alignment when obtaining a gaseous sample.

. revising all surveillance instructions and supportive portions of Technical Instructions (TI-18, -19, and -38) performed in total or in part by the radiochemical laboratory. Instruction changes will be initiated as problen areas are identified.

Data When Full rmn11ance Will Be Achieved All procedure review and revisions will be completed by Ecptember, 1984.
