Subject:

Completion of Repair in Service Water System Gentlemen:

t North Atlantic Energy Service Corporation (North Atlantic) submitted a relief request from j

ASME Code Section XI requirements on October 16,1995 [ Reference (b)]. The relief request sought approval to perform a temporary non-Code repair on Service Water system line 1802-14-153-24" at field l

weld SW-1802-F0901. In addition to the relief request, North Atlantic committed to provide a j

supplement to the October 16, 1995 letter documenting the results of augmented examinations of

[

sdditional Service Water system welds with similar configuration, fabrication, and service environment.

l i

The supplement was submitted on October 25,1995 [ Reference (c)), identifying the need to perform a Code repair on Service Water system line 1802-5-152-24", field weld SW-1802 F0801. The weld exhibited localized wall thinning (wall thickness of 0.100 inches) of less than the calculated minium wall thickness of 0.120 inches. An evaluation was performed on the degradation observed at the weld, and it was concluded that it did not adversely affect operability of the Service Water system.

North Atlantic hereby notifies the NRC that Code repairs have been completed on Service Water system welds, SW-1802-F0901 and SW-1802-F0801. The Code repairs were completed diaring the current refueling outage.
