Dear Mr. Chandler:
As Kent Brown and I discussed with you this morning, the merger between Kansas Gas and Electric Company and Kansas Power and Light Company will be postposed beyond the March 16 date now scheduled, in order to permit fuller analysis of a sound which occurred during restart of the Wolf Creek plant in late February. KG&E owns a 47% possessory interest in the plant. As we discussed, regior.al NRC officials and NRR have been kept fully informed on the progress of the situation.
I attach a press release being issued this morning on this matter. While it is marked
" Confidential Draft /not for release", I understand that the public version will be substantially identical to it.
