k. [This letter will confirm a telephone report made to Vern Hodte, Nuclear U _. Regulatory Commission Headquarters, by A. Francis DiMeglio at 5:50 a.m.

.. on August 10, 1984. The report concerned a failure in the telephone

- lines between Narragansett, Rhode Island and Providence, Rhode Island which prevented the transmission of signals from our burglar alarm and P our supervisory system (low pool level, area radiation monitors, etc.).

~~; A staff member was notified and he responded by going to the facility

'to begin manual surveillance.

~The burglar alarm to the Narragansett Police Station was not affected.

The phone line which failed at 5:45 a.m. was restored by 5:50 a.m.

There were no consequences at the facility.
