Ladies and Gentlemen:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) hereby provides notification of tim intent to implement Improved Technical Specifications for Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP). Present plans are for submittal of a License Amendment request reflecting application of the NUREG-1431 guidance to the FNP specific design and current licensing basis by April 1,1997. Based on NRC SER issuance within 9 months, the apprommate implementation date is projected as June 1,1998.
l In addition, SNC presently plans to submit a License Amendment request and supporting analyses for uprate of FNP Unit I and Unit 2 by December 31,1996. NRC approval will be requested to support implementation during the Fall 1998 outage for Unit I and the Spring 1998 outage for Unit 2.

This information is provided to facilitate NRC resource plannmg for License Amendment review and approval. SNC will notify the NRC of substantial chages in these plans.
