Dear Mr. Schwencer:
i The Reference 1) letter docunented agreements made on six Fire Protection Deferral items at a meeting between PECo and the NRC Staff on June 13, 1984.
The discussion purpose was to respond to the NRC Staff concern that deferral of the sprinkler system installation in Fire Areas 41 and 42, listed in Reference 2), Attachment A, Item 2A until the first refueling outage was not acceptable.
We have reviewed the schedule for the sprinkler design and installation in conjunction with possible temporary protective measures and have concluded that the best course of action is to expedite the installation of the permanent sprinkler systems.
It was agreed during the Reference 2) discussion that these systems would be tested and operable prior to exceeding 5% power operation.
