The Honorable 1*en Carr Chair Nuclear Regulatory Commission 11555 Rockville pike Rockv1110, Maryland 20B52 Dear Mr. Carrt Enclosed please find a letter from James Timpson of Fairfield, Connecticut, regarding his suggestion about.
the Shoreham Nuclear Plant on Long Island.
Since the plant is being dismantlod, Mr. Timpson thinks the United Staten should give the plant to the energy officials in the Commonwealth of-Independent States.
He believe; the plant is very safe and argues it would be a waste not to put it to uso.
He says the reason it has been abandoned is due to the fact that ovacuation is not feasible on Long Island.
He points out that this would not apply to Chernobyl.
Please review Mr. Timpson's letter and advise ne if you think his idea has merit.
Please sand-your response to the attention of my legislativo assistant, Patty Scott, in my Nashington office.
Thank you_for your timo and assistance.
