Dear Sir:

In Reference 1, the NRC requested additional information regarding containment purging and venting during normal operation. The Authority responded to these questions via Reference 2.

As a result of this request for additional information and subsequent discussions with the NRC staff members, the Authority initiated an in-depth study of these valves and their operability during DBA conditions.

Detailed information and valve drawings were requested from the valve supplier, Fisher Controls, Inc.

d' The purpose of this letter is to inform you of an incortect statement-contained in our response.

Recently, the Authority received.information from Fisher Controls that confirms that the valves in question have off-set discs.

Contrary to this fact, the' Authority erroneously stated in Reference 2 (response to. Question-4 on page 3) that these valves do not have off-set discs.

Th'e information included in our May 12, 1981 response was the best available at that time.

We are further investigating this issue with Fisher Controls.

- If.you-have any questions, please contact Mr. J. A. Gray, Jr.

of.my staff.

Very truly yours, u.
