EROSION CONTROL s
Rainfall was recorded on 14 separate occasions during the repcrting period, with an accumulated rainfall of 9.50 inches. Runoff samples were collected on three of these instances and returned to the Environmental Surveillance Laboratory for suspended solids analysis.
The results of theseLanalyses indicated that' no adverse levels of sediment
- are being entrained in the surface runoff.
CHEMICAL AND SOLID WASTE' CONTROL e:
Mixing of potentially hazardous sonolastic products. located
.in the Hazardous Waste Storage Area was completed during the reporting period.
e LNine empty drums from the sonolastic mixing operation were
,. disposed of by crushing and then burial. Seventeen drums now remain inside-the fenced Hazardous Waste Storage Area at

-. REGIONAL GROUNDWATER DEWATERING e
The 12 regional groundwater wells and 15 perched aquifer wells were read during the reporting period with no abnormal fluctuations.or trends detected.
e High Mississippi River levels prevented reading of the floodplain wells twice during the reporting period.
e The perched aquifer wells were read monthly during the reporting period. There were no instances;where the~ design maximum groundwater level of 109.00 ft. above Mean Sea Level (MSL) was exceeded during the reporting period.
e The casing for Well MW-1 was damaged in 'a b'ack-filling operation of-the tie-back wall. No reading for this well was obtained because of this damage.
VEGETATION e
No vegetational abnormalities were observed _during the reporting period.
e Clearing of MP&L land for an access road right-of-way to the new Claiborne County port was begun during the latter stages of the reporting period.
TRANSMISSION LINES e
A semiannual aerial survey of GGNS-associated transmission lines was conducted during the reporting period. Major erosion was evident at angle (Towers 192 and 193) on the Franklin 500 Kv Transmission Line. A box culvert located at the angle towers was severely damaged by runoff from heavy rainfall in the area. MP&L's Engineering Division has been notified of the problem ar.d is evaluating the potential solutions.
SEDIMENT BASINS A & 3 e
No problems were encountered with either basin during the reporting period.
