Dear Dick:

Enclosed is a brief description of our proposed dose reduction project.

The document was used as a proposal to an electric utility consortium and proposed that the consortium fund some preliminary work related to in-pile loop design and research program definition. For the construction of the in-pile loop we are looking for federal agency support. Operating costs for the loop-based research program could be shared by federal and private sponsors. In a recent meeting with EPRI we found them very supportive of need for a U.S. in-pile test loop facility and they expressed interest in supporting research using such a facility.

I'm looking forward to discussing our ideas with you and your associ-ates.

Sincerely yours, Otto K. Harling OKH:DKE Enclosure o
