Revision to a Commitment Provided in a Reply to a Notice of Violation NRC Combined inspection Report Nos. 50-352/95-10 and 50-353/95-10 On September 5,1995, PECO Energy Company provided a reply to a Notice of Violation Notice (NOV) for Limerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2, concoming contamination mcaitoring of personnel and materials leaving the radiological controlled area. The NOV was contained in your letter dated August 7,1995. Within the reply were several commitments regarding communications and training that were to be completed by September 30,1995. The commitments invdved the communication of further improvements to the contamination contrd l
program to the station work force, and the completion of any necessary training of Health l
Physics (HP) technicians and station workers to effectively implement the program improvements. During the month of September, the HP organization was primarily involved in providing the necessary support for cleaning of the Unit 1 suppression pool and other activities l
associated with the unexpected lifting of a Unit 1 main steam safety relief valve. in addition, es i
committed to in the September 5,1995 reply to the NOV, during this time period, LGS performed a very comprehensive review of the contamination control program to identify any factors which challenge the effectiveness of the program. As a result of these extensive I
activities, the original schedule for the completion of training has been revised. Procedure changes have been identified and will be implemented effective October 23,1995. A training plan was finalized on October 13,1995 and training of HP technicians to the affected procedures i
began on October 16,1995. Effective October 23,1995, all Advanced Radiation Worker (ARW) qualifications will be removed. Subsequent to this date, individual ARW workers must complete l
training prior to performing ARW surveys. The training of the remaining station workers will be i
completed by November 30,1995.
