Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter is to provide you with advance notification of spent fuel shipments from the Fort St.
Vrain Nuclear Generating Station in Platteville, Colorado, to the Idaho Chemical Processing Plant in Scoville, Idaho, scheduled for the months of July and August, 1984.
The enclosures to this letter contain the information required by 10 CFR 73.72.
As discussed with Mr. Jim Kelley of your staff, we will be supplying only one advunce notification for each series of shipments scheduled to depart from the plant site during a particular month. Unless we hear otherwise, this will be our approach until all shipments have been delivered.

It must be protected against unauthorized disclosure until December 5, 1984, unless a subsequent notification of spent fuel shipments is received from us prior to this date.
The Safeguards Statement in a subsequent notification received prior to the date indicated above supercedes that in this notification.

NRC-DPR-34 7/13/84 NOTE 1:
The weights of enriched Uranium and Plutonium will vary with each shipment, but will not exceed 4,720 grams and 23 grams, respectively, for any one shipment.
NOTE 2:
Although the Transport Index for each shipment will be entered on each Bill of Lading and Radioactive Material Removal Record, its value is academic since the transport vehicle has been consigned as exclusive use.
This means that the shipments are subject to the radiation dose rate limits in 49 CFR 173.393(j) rather than those in 49 CFR 173.393(i).
However, the Transport Index of past spent fuel shipments has never exceeded a value of 10.
NOTE 3:
This value will be the sum weight of the isotopes U-233, U-235, Pu-233, Pu-239, and Pu-241, and will not exceed 4,893 grams for any one shipment.
