Dear Mr DeYoung:
This should be considered a follow-up to W S Lee's letter of June 8, 1984, regarding HVAC equipment manufactured by the Bahnson Company.
We have reviewed the quality of that equipment with the following results.
Welding on the units contained some minor flaws which were evaluated by our Design Engineering Department and Bahnson and were found to be acceptable without repair.
We have. reviewed all of the materials used in these units and com-pared the materials with the design drawings.
Except in the case of some rivets and washers, the materials were as specified.
Some rivets have been replaced by bolting and approved by our Design Engineering Department.
The incorrect rivets were determined not to be a significant problem.
We have rereviewed the documentation supplied by Bahnson and any discrepant areas have been corrected and verified.
The actions that we have taken assures us that tin two air handling units at our Catawba Nuclear Station and one air handling unit at our Oconee Nuclear Station will satisfactorily serve their intendsd purpose.
We will be alert for problems of this nature in the future.
Very truly yours, W H Owen WHO/rrJc cc:
