Dear Mr. Youngblood:

Letter from B.
J.
Youngblood to W.
H. Jens, " Preliminary Evaluation of the IDVP Performed by Cygna Energy Services for the Fermi-2 Facility",
March 27, 1984
Subject:
Code Compliance Verification of ASME Class I Flued Heads,
Item 1 of Reference 2 requested Detroit Edison to confirm that an as-built analysis was performed of all flued heads in safety related systems in compliance with the appropriate sections of the ASME Code.
Detroit Edison has completed an ASME Code Section III, NB-3200 evaluation of all ASME Class 1 flued heads.
The evaluation verified the code acceptability of the critical section of the flued heads.
Flued head loads f roia the as-built piping stress reports were used in this analysis.
Edison did not observe the emergency condition as governing the design capability of the Fermi 2 flued heads in any instance.
Th'e upset condition (i.e., ratio of calculated stress to code allowable stress) was found to be critical for primary stress evaluation purposes in all instances.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr.
