JUN 281984 Mr. Paul J. Traina, Director l

-Water Management Division i U.S. Environmental Protection Agency f Region IV f 345 Courtland Street, NE. i Atlanta, Georgia 30365  ;

Dear Mr. Traina:

Enclosed are two copies of the report " Aquatic Environmental Conditions in Chickamauga Reservoir During Operation of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant - [

Third Annual Report (1983)." This report is submitted in accordance l with part I., section B.1.c., and part III., section F., of the Sequoyah  !

NPDES permit.  !

Please note a discrepancy 'bbtw'een this, report and previous correspon- ,

dance with you. In a March 16 letter to you from Alvan Bruch, "Sequoyah  !

Nuclear Plant - NPDES No,4 TN0026450 - Modifications of' Sample Design for

. Larval Fish Entrainment Inysstigations," we reported an entrainment testimate for freshwater drum in 1983 of 75 percent. This estimate was *

' based on a new method of determining intake flow demand. Subsequent to *

'that transmittal, we discovered that the old method of determining demand  !

was more. accurate. Entrainment estimates in the enclosed report reflect l this more accurate. method. You will note the entrainment estimate for i freshwater drum changed from 75 percent to SS percent. This change will not affect our plans described in the March 16 letter. l If you have questions regarding this report, please call Clyde W.

Voigtlander at FTS 856-6655 or (615) 632-6655 in Knoxville, Tennessee. t L

Sincerely,

[
