i EVENT DESCRIPTION'AND CAUSE OF EVENT oOn May 22,-1984,.e.t 1645. hours,-fire wall penetration seal #1707 in Control Building Room CB63-04 was declared. INOPERABLE when the top layer of-the five (5) layer Kaowool wrap protecting the penetraticn was determined to be degraded.
Control Building Room CB63-04 has a fire loading of 182,000 BTU /FT2 and is protected ewith fire detection and fire suppression equipment, which were verified OPERABLE.
Roving one (1) hour fire watch patrols began checking room CB63-04 at 1700 hours0.0197 days
0.472 hours
0.00281 weeks
6.4685e-4 months
.
The degraded Kaowool wrap was identified by Operations personnel performing a visual
'i
' Surveillance inspection and was apparently damaged by persons l
brushing against the wrap.
The probability of a fire propagating
.through the fire wall penetration seal was minimal because of the remaining layers of Kaowool wrap in addition to the-installed fire suppression / fire detection equipment.
ACTION TAKEN The degraded Kaowool wrap was replaced and satisfactorily.
t inspected.
Fire wall-penetration seal #1707 was declared OPERABLE.
