LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Updated FSAR (UFSAR) Use In 10 CFR 50.59 Reviews NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 Reference (a):
March 30, 1984 letter to H. R. Denton from Cordell Reed.
Dear Mr. Denton:
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.71 (e) an updated FSAR (UFSAR) was submitted to NRR (reference A).
This document was prepared using the original FSAR through Amendment 64 (the last amendment) as the base document.
This document was updated to include facility and license changes made to the plant as of a maximum of six months prior to submittal.
The changes from the original FSAR as well as all facility
-changes and license changes were reviewed and documented in accordance with 10 CFR 50.59.
All changes requiring NRC approval have been reviewed by the NRC and all others have 50.59 reviews on site to document the station's determination that prior approval was not required.
l Therefore, Commonwealth Edison Company believes that the LaSalle County Station UFSAR accurately reflects the as-built condition of Unit 1 through at least October 30, 1983 and Unit 2 through Amendment 64, and should 'therefore be used to perform future 10 CFR 50.59 reviews.

future UFSAR Annual updates will also receive the same level of review to meet the requirements of 10 CFR 50.59.
t It was LaSalle's intent to pursue this approach from the beginning of the UFSAR project and the update was reviewed to a level to ensure that it would be usable for 10 CFR 50.59 reviews.
This letter is submitted at the request of Dr. A. Bournia of your staff to inform you of our intent to use the LaSalle UFSAR for that purpose.
