IN USE IN CLASS IE SAFETY SYSTEMS POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT In response to IE Bulletin 84-02, " Failures of General Electric Type HFA Relays in Use in Class IE Safety Systems" there are no GE type HFA relays used in safety-related applications at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant.
Westinghouse type NBFD relays are the equivalent relays installed in safety related systems.
These NBFD relays were initially supplied with nylon coil bobbins.
Because of concerns similar to those expressed in the IE Bulletin, the safety related NBFD relays with nylon bobbins in the Reactor Protection and Engineered Safety Features systems have been replaced with NBFD relays containing coil bobbins made on an improved material.
