Honorable Nunzio Palladino Chairman Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1717 H Street, N.W.

K.'rhington, D.C.

Dear Chairman Palladino:

The Kansas Corporation Commission has expressed serious concerns that the~ decision to cancel the Nuclear Regulatory Commission forecasting visit to the Wolf Creek nuclear plant in Burlington, Kansas will adversely affect their rate case preparation.

As Kans'as Senators we are concerned about future rate increases and want the Corporation Commission to have the information they need to make informed decisions.

The Commis-sion contends that the forecasting inspection is "an indis-pensable tool."

Therefore, we encourage you to reconsider your decision and reschedule the inspection.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
