e JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF OPERATIONS January 1992 There was one reactor trip and one major power reduction during the month of January.

At 0731 on Jaruary 22, after ramping down to 65 percent power, the operator manually tripped the reactor due to a service water leak in the main generator exciter housing. This event was caused by a leak which had developed at a coupling between two pipe sections associated with service water cooling for the exciter. The unit returned to power operation at 2035 on January 23.

At 2000 on January 18, power was reduced to approximately C0 percent for main feedwater pump and "B" condensate pump work. The unit returned to 100 percent at 1030 on January 19.

The following major safety related maintenance was perfcrmed during the month:

1. Miscellaneous corrective and preventive maintenance was performed on the diesel generators.
