ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY TOPICAL REPORTS FOR FUEL CONVERSION The purpose of this letter is to inform NRC of TVA's need to have the review and approval of B&W topical reports completed to support the implementation of SON's conversion to B&W fuel during the Cycle 9 core loads. TVA met with NRC on December 7,1994,in Rockville, Maryland to discuss TVA's schedule for conversion to B&W fuel. This scheoule included the submittal of a SON specific topical report, prepared by B&W, to NRC by March 1996. This schedule required B&W to complete the report and provide it to TVA by December 1995. The analysis work being performed by B&W is based upon methodologies which have either been approved by NRC or are under active NRC review. The methodologies that have not been formally approved by NRC are contained in the following B&W topical reports:

Tonical Reoort No.

Til!g BAW-10168P, Revision 02 BWNT Loss-of-Coolant Accident Evaluation Model for Recirculating Steam Generator Plants - Small Break BAW-101 E 9P-A

complete review and approval of the methodologies contained within these topicals in December 1995, to correspond with completion of the SON fuel transition analysis.

TVA also requests NRC to perform the review and approvals by the dates requested by B&W to ensure the license amendment process, associated with the fuel conversion effort, will remain on the schedule presented to NRC.
