Commonwealth Edison Steam Generator Initial Inspector Plan Used to Verify Load Path Necessary to Support 3 Volt Interim Plugging Criteria

3 Volt Interim Plugging Criteria Request In the Reference letter, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission transmitted to Commonwealth Edison Company (Comed) a request for additional information (RAI) pertaining to Byron and Braidwood's application for a 3 Volt Interim Plugging Criteria (IPC). In that letter RAI, question 64 requested information regarding Comed's inspection plan which is intended to ensure the structural integrity of the components necessary to limit the tube support plate displacements. Attached is Comed's response to question 64, " Steam Generator Structural Inspection Plan Support of Braidwood-1 and Byron-13.0 Volt IPC."
To summarize the plan: Its objective is to verify that the internals load path for 3 volt IPC is intact and not degraded. The plan contains the following proposal:
Braidwood-1 During the upcoming refuel outage, A1R05, a visual inspection will be performed on one steam generator. This inspection will consists of: the periphery of the top support plate, approximately 100 vertical bar supports, welds,9 stayrods,3 wedge sets and verification of the wrapper positioning. If eddy current techniques are available, Braidwood will perform eddy current inspections of the tube support plates in all 4 steam generators.
Byron-1 During the upcoming the mid-cycle outage, B1P02, a visual inspection will be performed on one steam generator. This inspection will consist of 7 stayrods and any other internals that can be easily seen. If eddy current techniques are available, Byron will perform eddy current inspections of the tube support plates in all 4 steam generators.
