' U.S. Nuclear R::gulatory Commission June 12, 1984 Page 2 VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER COMPORATION Our schedular extension reflects the need to concentrate our engineering resources on efforts associated with the 1984 refueling outage, scheduled to commence on June 16, 1984.
Numerous significant and extensive engineering modi-
'fications, including those required by the NRC (e.g., environmental qualifica-tion of safety-related electrical components in accordance with the provisions of 10CFR50.49) are scheduled to be installed during this outage.
Deferring the endneering associated with Regulatory Guide 1.97 will allow us to continue to concentrate our resources on outage-related activities.
We trust that the revised schedule is acceptable; however, should you have any questions in this matter, please contact us.
Very truly yours, VERMONT YANXEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION nA&f Y
