Dear Judge Smith,
I am writing regarding the upcoming < pre-hearing conference on the Byron nuclear power plant scheduled for May 30, 1984.
I will be unable to attend the conference, hcwever I wish to urge you to carefully consider the issues to be litigated before determining the scope of the upcoming hearing.. The question of the Byron nuclear power plant's license is a crucial one of all those living in the region, and I urge you to therefore allow ample time for discovery and for questioning by the intervenors of Com Ed's witnesses.
The following four issues are central to the dispute and I hope that they will each be addressed thuroughly.
1)
The quality of the work performed by Com-Ed's contractors on the plant site 2)
The reliability of inspections done by contractors 3)
Com-Ed's Own inspection program 4)
The financial ability of Com-Ed to safely operate Byron Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.
Sincerely, M%
