By my letter to you dated April 19, 1984, we requested an early indication of the NRC staff ruling on a request for exemption from the two-year test requirement of 10 CFR 50 Appendix J for Browns Ferry Nuclese Plant. This request was made to avoid retest of valves and electrical penetrations. Through communications with your staff, we learned that additional information was needed.
Because of that and because of the uncertainty in getting the request approved, we decided that it was more advantageous to retest the subject valves and penetrations. Therefore, the request for relief is no longer needed.
This was discussed with R. J. Clark of your staff on May 10, 1984.
