Dear Mr Davis:
MONTICELID NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Equipment Perfotuance Under D,enraded Voltane Conditions Our letter on this subject dated July 25, 1977 informed you of our plans to in-vestigate the feasibility of installing a second level of automatic degraded voltage protection. This modification was recomended by the NRC Staf f and de-scribed in your letter to us dated June 3, 1977.
At this time it appears that modifications which satisfy the intent of the automatic protection scheme outlined in your June 3, 1977 letter can be completed at reasonable cost without degrading the existing emergency power system. Detailed design work has been initiated by the Monticello architect-engineer and we believe the modification can be completed during the 1978 autumn refueling outage.
We will submit a detailed description of the proposed modifications and a License Amendment Request containing proposed Technical Specifications related to the modifications when the design has been finalized.
