MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PIANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Schedule for Submittal o f Prompt Relief Trip Infotwition and Installation This letter is in response to Mr. Go11er's letter of September 17, 1974, and to Mr. Ziemann's letter of April 16, 1975.
These letters pointed out the need Ic.r additional infonnation necessary prior to licensing approval of the Prompt Relief Trip (PRT) system and for information regarding the installation and implementation of the PRT system.
We are aware of the issues associated with obtaining your favorable assessment o f the PRT sys tem.
General Electric has kept us informed of the work being done to resolve the outstanding issues that are presently open items appearing on the Monticello docket.
Ir1 this regard General Electric has reported that these issues apply not only to Monticello but to all plants contemplating application to the I'RT system.
'o this reason General Electric is preparing to submit to you, a gereric docu-w t based on our January 23, 1974 PRT submittal that will include a response the outstanding issues.
Submittal of the generic document is planned for to mid-summer 1075.
Preliminary indications are that for the last two to four months of Cycle 5, impicmentation of PRT at Monticello may be s desirabic option.
We have ac-cordingly established the following target dates for planning purposes.
JUNE 1976............. Resubmit or amend PRT desc ription and sa fety evaluation JANUARY 1977.......... Receive total approval of PRT and begin in-sta11ation JUNE 1977.............Comple te ins tallation and implement the PRT system h.UU
