Dear Mr Ziemann:

MONTICELID NUCLEAR GENERATING pIANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Additional Containment Design Information In the July 17, 1975, meeting in Bethesda it was agreed that information would be sub-mitted concerning th evaluation program undervay for our Mark I containment. nis evaluation is being i ducted in response to NRC letters dated February 14, 1975, and April 17, 1975, pursu.t to para. 5454f of 10CTR part 50. We previously responded to your letters with our fy 8 and 30 letters in which we provided a preliminary action plan to address the relfef valve and IDCA load concerns. Subsequent to that, and on our behalf, Cencral Electric transmitted to Mr Tedesco via Mr Stuart's June 13 letter a sunnary of the proposed Short Tenn Containment Program, which was referenced in our July 9 letter, and suggested that a review meeting be held in your Staff offices for further discussion. The July 17 meeting was the result of that suggestion. ne General Electric reference plant analysis that was discussed with you by General Electric on April 10 was further documented and updated to include the conruitments made on that date by Dr Gyorey's June 26, 1975, letter to Mr Maccary.

In addition, General Electric completed their work on the safety / relief valve vent clearing model. This has been transmitted to you via GE's July 8 letter, and the model is described in report NED-20942P.

To further supplement your review, General Electric has prepared a Mark 1 Containment Status Report. This report has been transmitted to the NRC by GE's July 31, 1975, letter to Mr A Giambusso from I F Stuart. This report sunnarizes the Mark 1 Short and Long Tenn Programs and provides status as of July 18, 1975, on the work that has been completed.

We have conducted a thorough review of the information presented by General Electric and our consultants and have evaluated the work done on the reference plant investi-gation performed by Cencral Electric this Spring.

In consideration of the facts that this material has been determined to be applicable to Monticello, and the extremely low probability of a 1DCA event occurring at our plant during the period of time required to ccruplete the Short Term Program, and the results of these investigations 9105030434 750007 DR ADOCK 05o 3
