Your letter of April 22, 1976, notified us that the in-service inspection and testing requirements for ASME Code Class 1, 2, and 3 components for nuclear power plants delineated in 10CFR Part 50.55a were changed by a

revision to the regulations published on February 27, 1976. The revised regulations require the inspection and testing to be performed in accordance with the provisions set forth in Section XI of ASME, Boiler and Pressure
[
Vessel Code, and Addenda. The revised regulations for plants such as Robinson Unit 2 with operating licenses issued prior to March 1, 1976, become effective af ter September 1,1976, at the start of the next regular 40-month inspection
- period, r
The revised regulations provide for a determination that certain ASME Section XI (1974 edition) in-service inspection and testing requirements are impractical. The Company will review the requirements of ASME Section XI compared to the existing provisions for in-service inspection and testing in the Robinson Unit 2 technical specifications.
If we determine that conformance with certain ASME XI in-service inspection and testing requirements is impractical, we will submit information to you to support a determination in accordance with

50.55a(g)(5)(tii) and (iv).
