SUBJECT:
Inner Personnel Air Lock (PAL) Door Equalizing Valve Modification The purpose of 'his letter is to notify the NRC that Omaha Public Power District LOPPD) Mr. S. D. Bloom of the NRC requested in a telephone call with Mr. T. C.
will complete the subject modification, as decribed below, by June 1, l992.
Matthews of OPPD on february 11, 1992 that this inf ormation be formally transmitted to the NRC.
Ref erance 2 describes the sequcnce of events that initiated the develtpment of this modification.
The modification will extend the pipe from the inner PAL door equalizing valve l
on the Auxiliary Building side and add a removable cap that can provide l
containment isolation when necessary.
The new piping will aho contain a test port to provide the ability to leak test the pipe, cap and equalization valve.
If the inner PAL door equalization valve should fail its leak test, thi; modification will assure compliance with Technical Specification 2.6(1)a regarding containment integrity by allowing isolation of the inner PAL door equalization valve prior to opening the outer PAL door to initiate repairs.
