Dear Sir:
In acconiance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.64(C)(2), Washington State University hereby officially notifies the Commission that funds for the actual conversion of the WSU reactor from IIEU to LEU will not be available during fiscal year 1992, llowever, Washington State University was infonned in a letter dated February 12,1992 that funding is available during FY 92 to " accomplish the safety analysis phase of the conversion." A copy of the letter is enclosed. We are currently in the process of writing a proposal to request funding to accomplish this analysis phase.
Washington State University will notify the Commission should circumstances change and will submit the required certification letter for fiscal year 1993 by May 27,1993 or the required conversion proposal.

Dear Dr. Tripard:
This letter is to inform you that funding is available during FY 92 through the U.S. Department of Energy to initiate the conversion of your reactor from HCU to LEO fuci.
It is requested, therefore, that you submit a proposal, including a detailed cost estimate, to accomplish the safety analysis phase of the conversion.
The proposal should not include the costs for the new fuel, spent fuel cask rental, or fuel shipping transportation since these tasks are being handled by others.
You are also reminced that technical assistance for safety documentation review and analysis is available through the RERTR program at the Argonne National Laboratory.
Your proposal should be coordinated with and reflect the degree of support to be provided by RERTR/ANL.
We would like to receive your proposal by May 1, 1992.
