We had ccumitted to performing an examination for PWSCC, on a sample of Westinghouse mechanical-plugs fabricated from 6

thermally treated Inconel 600.

The results of these examinations were to be provided to Westinghouse to improve the database concerning the susceptibility of plugs to PWSCC.

From the ongoing examinations of data collected, the NRC-issued Supplement 2 to Bulletin 89-01 informing licensees that all Westinghouse mechanical plugs q

fabricated from thermally treated Inconel 600 were subject to PWnCC and installation of these plugo should-be discontinued._ Union Electric's response to Supplement 2 provided in Reference 4 stated that we would remove all the subject hot-leg plugs at the upcoming refueling outage.

The cold-leg plugs would nut be

L Regarding the removed plugs, it is to longer necessary to perform any examinations for PWSCC for the purpose of providing data to Westinghouse.

The Inconel 600 plugs are all considered to be susceptible to PWSCC and are being removed from applications where tnoir use adversely affects the reactor coolant pressure boundary.
