NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF MONTHLY OPERATING EXFERIENCE - JUNE, 1984 i

June 1 The station was in operational mode 1 with reactor power a nominal 1004. At 2041 hours0.0236 days
0.567 hours
0.00337 weeks
7.766005e-4 months
, reactor power was reduced to 60% to allow l

the 1A main feedwater pump to be taken out of service for seal replacement.

June 2 The station operated at 60% power during this period while the t

i through 1A main feedwater pump was out of service. Each of the main con-June 9 denser waterboxes was inspected for tube leakage and other main-l tenance was carried out. Work was unable to be done on the main feedwater pump due to a leaking valve which prevented the pump's isolation from the system. This necessitated plant cooldown to l

l operational mode 3 in order to repair the pump's seals. At 1735 l

hours on the 8th, a reduction in reactor power was begun. The station entered mode 3 at 1920 hours0.0222 days
0.533 hours
0.00317 weeks
7.3056e-4 months
.

i l

During the shutdown, the main steam trip valves were stroke tested due to questions of using steam flow to assist in the test method.

l The valves stroke tested unsatisfactorily without steam. A design i

change was initiated to make the valves testable under all conditions.

i

.It was judged that this required the station to enter operational mode 4 to comply with the station Technical Specifications. Entry to made 4 occurred at 1710 hours0.0198 days
0.475 hours
0.00283 weeks
6.50655e-4 months
on the 9th.

j June 10 The station was in operational mode 4, hot shutdown, pending repairs i

through to the 1A main imedwt, ter pump, the 1C main.feedwater regulating valve j

June 11 and the main steam trip valves. Repairs were completed by 0000 hours0 days
0 hours
0 weeks
0 months
on the lith and plant heatup began. Mode 3 was entered at 0055 hours6.365741e-4 days
0.0153 hours
9.093915e-5 weeks
2.09275e-5 months
.

(

Af ter completion of the necessary surveillance tests, the reactor was I

taken critical at 1700 hours0.0197 days
0.472 hours
0.00281 weeks
6.4685e-4 months
. The main unit. generator was synchro-nized to the grid at 1908 haurs.

l l

June 12 The station reached a norinal 1006 reactor power at 0330 hours0.00382 days
0.0917 hours
5.456349e-4 weeks
1.25565e-4 months
on l

through the 12th and continued to operate at 100% power through the end of i

June 30 the month.
