Calibration Source for Manhattan College Zero Power Reactor (MCZPR)

As we discussed,in order to calibrate the gamma detectors at the MCZPR up to their trip points it is necessary that we procure an additional calibration source. Our existing licenses da not now cover possessing a calibration source of sufficient strength to accamplish this. We have contacted source suppliers and have received quotes but cannot proceed without licensing cover-age.
It is therefore requested that our Facility Operating License No. R-94 be amended ,o per-mit Manhattan College to possess and use calibration sources up to 5 mM race activity. This will permit us to routinely perform the necessary calibrations directly and thus climinate the concern that resulted in us being cited with a violation in 1991.
