50-260 50-296 By letter from M. R. Wisenburg to you dated October 13, 1981, we stated that a fracture mechanics analysis would be performed to determine if a feedwater low-flow controller was required for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. This analysis has been completed by NUTECH and has shown that the low-flow control modification and the reactor water cleanup system crosstie modification detailed in NUREG-0619 are not required at Browns Ferry to mitigate feedwater nozzle cracking. This was discussed with R. J. Clark of your staff on June 21, 1983 The vendor report detailing the Browns Ferry specific analysis will be submitted to you by August 16, 1983 In that submittal we will also present our overall program to mitigate feedwater nozzle cracking at Browns Ferry.
