Gentlemen:

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.64, Limitations on the Use of Ilighly Enriched Uranium, the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory submits herewith the information required by subsection (c)(2)(ii) of that paragrap:1._

. We have been notified by the U.S. Depanment of Energy that Federal funding for conversion to low enriched uranium will not be available during Fiscal Year 1992. A copy

-of Mr. Richard E. Stephens' letter dated February 19,1992 is attached.

It is our understanding that this letter fulfills the requirements of 10 CFR 50.64 until March 27,1993. We shall inform you if further information regarding the availability of funding should become available in te meantime.
