IE Bulletin 83-08: Electrical Circuit Breakers with an Under-Voltage Trip Feature in use in Safety-Related Applications Other than the Reactor Trip System (G-84001)
Dear Mr. Collins:
The subject bulletin concerns potential failures of electrical circuit breakers with an undervoltage trip attachment (UVTA).
The bulletin requested an answer to four questions:
Identify applications of Westinghouse type DB, type DS, General Electric Type AK-2, or other breakers with a UVTA.
Review the design of the UVTA, describe the breaker surveillance program, review operating experience, and describe preventative or corrective measures taken on the breakers identified in Item 1.
For facilities with an OL, respond within 90 days For facilities with a CP, respond within 90 days or before issuance of license.
'-We have reviewed this bulletin for applicability to Fort St. Vrain with the following results:
FSV does not have Westinghouse Type DB, Type DS, or General Electric Type AK-2 in use in safety related
- systems. None have.haen purchased for future use.

None of our in service safety related breakers utilize an undervoltageftrip attachment. This function at FSV is performed by undervoltage relays.
Staff; time spent to' evaluate this bulletin and to prepare a response
- was 30 man-hours.
