The purpose of this procedure is to provide direction for the protection against and clean-up of chemical spills.

PREREQUISITES 1.
None.

PRECAUTIONS e
1.
Always have good ventilation when dealing with chemicals. If ventilation is poor or nonexistent, contact Health Physics as to respirator require-menta.
2.
Be f=411mr with the locations of fire extinguishers, showers and eye weak stations in the 4 - ad1=te area.
3.
Be f=414=r with the chemical and its properties. Contact rhemistry for guidance.

LIMITATIONS AMD ACTIONS 1.
Notify'NRC if required. Refer to QEP 310-1 for notification requirementa.

PROCEDURE 1.
Contact Chemistry for specific instructions prior to working on any chemical system.
2.
Apparel.
a.
In most cases, a face shield and elbow-length rubber gloves are required; however, neoprene slickers and gloves are required for l
chlorine dioxide and Waste Solidification Binder 101.
b.
No skin should be esposed. Severe burns may result if skin contact occurs.
c.
If floor level work is involved, boots and outer slacks should also be worn.
d.
Contact Baalth Physics as to respiratory requirements.

a.
Contact Chemistzy or Health Physics insnediately.
b.
Acid and caustic.
(1) Remove all affected clothing.
(2) Shower for a min 4== of 15 minutes.
(3) In case of eye contact, rinse eyes repeatedly with water.
(4) Seek medical attention if necessary.

Haste Solidification Binder 101.
(1) Remove all affected clothing.
(2) Shower for a =4n4== of 15 minutes.
(3) Apply mineral oil generously to affected area.
(4) Alternate showering and oil application as long as necessary.
(5) In case of eye contact, rinse eyes repeatedly with water.
(6) Seek medical attention.

(1) Remove all affected clothing.
(2) Shower, with soap, for a =4=4==
of 15 minutes.
(3) In case of eye contact, rinse eyes repeatedly with water.

Contact Chemistry immediately, b.
Avoid drainage of chemicals to floor' drains.
c.
Acid and. caustic.
l (1) Chemistry will direct clean-up as to appropropriate chemicals and amounts necessary to neutralize spill.
(2) Contain spill as such as possible.

TRAINING FOR OFF-SITE January 1984 SUPPORT AGENCIES ID/3G A.
PURPOSE l
The purpose of this procedure is to provide each off-site support agency with an opportunity to be trained in the Quad-Cities Emergency Plan and provide radiologicil training or retraining to members of these organizations-therefore better preparing these organizations to assist in the event of an emergency.

An annual written invitation for members of the organizations in QEP 510-T1 and QEP 520-T1 to visit the station, discuss the emergency plan and familiarize themselves wi w the plant facilities shall be sent by the Station Superintendent.

The letters in F.1. and F.2 may be incorporated in a single sritten v
invitation as in QEP 520-T2, or in two separate letters as in QEP 520-T3 and QEP 520-T4, depending on the Station Superintendent's preference.

The training should consist of the following:
a.
An explanation of security controlled area access procedures.
b.
A discussion of what radiation is and where it comes frem.
c.
A discussion of the types of radiation the Station is concerned with.
d.
An explanation of the difference between radiation and contamination, and the units used to quantify them.
a.
A discussion and/or demonstration of how the Station detects radiation.
f.
A discussio,n concernind the biological effects of radiation and the regulatory limit; for workers.
- 3. -A discussion and/or demonstration of how the Station protects personnel from radiation (time, distance, shielding).

A discussion of the radiological concerns sssociated with a nuclear power plant accident.
