STATEMENT OF COVERNOR MARIO CUOMO, REPRESENTING THE STATE OF NEW YORK, IN SUPPORT OF THE "SUFFOLK-COUNTY MOTION TO STRIKE PORTIONS OF LILCO'S GROUP II-B TESTIMONY" The State of New York fully supports the County of Suffolk's motion of March 28, 1984 to strike portions of LILCO's Group II-B testimony.
The State of New York agrees with the County of Suffolk's assertions that LILCO should not be allowed to expand this litigation to include LILCO's efforts in creating the Plan, LILCO's political theories, LILCO's predictions of the future, or LILCO's understanding of planning considerations pertaining to other nuclear power plants.
The State of New York also concurs with the County of Suffolk's assertions that portions of the LILCO testimony pertaining to the New York State Plan or New York State reviews of other nuclear power plants should be stricken. The County of Suffolk's statement on the top of page 32 is correct - the State of New York opposes the LILCO Plan for Shoreham because the LILCO Plan is inadequate, unvorkable, and fails to assure that the health and safety of the public on Long Island will be protected.
