This letter provides additional information relative to our pr eviou s
. response (Reference 3) to the subject inspect ion report.
A document review has been performed for the 35 ASME III pipe spools identified as having postweld heat tr eatment (PWHT) per Power Piping Company heat treatment procedure N-1141-P-8. This review has de t ermined that 29 of the 35 spools were tr eated in acordance with the ASME III Code , Winter 1973 Code Rules of NB-4620, using nominal wall thickness fo r standard pipe sizes and specified minimum thic knes s fo r special sizes. Based on this rev iew Power Piping Company and their ANI are prepared to re-cert ify the NPP-1 Form to indicate compliance with the 1972 Edition /1973 Winter Addenda of the Code for these 29 spools.
The remaining 6 s pools wh ich were not accept ab le , will rece ive a final post-weld heat treatment in the field.
Our letter of October 7,1983 (Reference 3) listed MSS-043-3 as one of four spools ident ified by Nonconformance and Dis po s it ion Repo rt (N&D) No.
6841. N&D No . 6841 ident ified MSS-043-5 as an item of pot ent ial viola t ion rather than MSS-043-3.
A temperature uniformity survey has been performed on Power Piping 's heat treatment furnace in ac cordance with the commitment in our let ter of October 7, 1983. The results of this survey indicate that the thermocouples, as ins t al led during the tre atment proces s , could adequa t ely repres ent the temperature of the' components in the furnace.
