Dear Sir:
Generic Istter No. 83-28 (Reference 1) requested that the Authority provi&;
information, plans and schedules related to the generic inplications of a l
March,1983 ATHS event at the Salen Nuclear Power Plant. Attachment No. 1 to our November 9,1983 letter (Reference 2) described the Authority's current and planned programs. Necessarily, those program descriptions were L-limited to infonnation available at that time. The Authority further ccm-mited in Reference 2 to update and supplement our response to reflect changes and additional information developed since the initial response. We ca mitted to provide this information by March 31, 1984.

As detailed in Reference 3, the Authority participated in a Nuclear Task Action Comnittee (NUTAC)' organized under the auspices of INPO to specifically address certain concerns of Generic Ietter No. 83-28.
In the same letter, we also described our plans for participating in a similar program with the
.BWR Owners Group. When the Authority ommitted to provide an updated response, the date we chose was based on the estimated schedules for both of these programs. 'Ihe NUTAC has only recently published its final report and only limited progress has been made by the Owners Group.
Because of the belated issuance of the NLTIRC report and the lack of significant progress by the BWROG,. the Authority requires additional time to ccmplete the update planned for March 31, 1984. '1his time is required 'to review and incor-porate the NUTAC's final report into our prcxjram and to develop plans for those. issues that were to be addressed by the Owners Group. Therefore, we have had to reschedule the subnittal of our updated response until June 28, 1984.
If you or your staff have any questions, please cantact Mr. J.A. Gray, Jr. of my staff.
Very truly yours, J.P yne w tive Vice President Nuclear Generation State of New York
