Dear Mr. Denton:
I have repeatedly left word for you to return my telephone calls of Tuesday, Wednesday, yesterday and this morning, but you have failed to do so.
This is to inform you that Suffolk County takes most seriously the conflict-of-interest which LILCO and the so-called " Owners Group" have in the design review and quality revalidation program for the TDI diesels at Shoreham.
The letter to you from the County's counsel, Mr. Brown, dated March 1st, expresses Suffolk County's position:
the TDI diesel review program underway should be promptly stopped because its integrity is fatally compromised by LILCO's improper role in directing and controlling that review, and a new and truly independent review should be established in consultation with Suffolk County and all other interested parties.

The County finds it virtually unimaginable that the NRC Staff would tolerate a blatant impropriety and conflict-of-interest such as LILCO's on any matter of public safety, let alone cn1 an issue of such great public interest and concern-as the defective TDI diesels at Shoreham.
