Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Severe Accident Management Guideline Implementation As requested by Nuclear Energy Institute's (NEI) letter to utility contacts, dated December 22, 1994, and as reiterated in NRC letter to NEI, dated January 9,1995, this letter is provided to confirm that TMI-l intends to enhance its emergency response capabilities by implementing Severe Accident Management Guidelines in the Technical Support Center. TMI-1 plans to evaluate information presently available on the severe accident issue, including NEI Report 91-04, Revision 1, " Severe Accident Issue Closure Guidelines," as well as insights from the TMI-1 Probabilistic Risk Assessment to develop the Severe Accident Management Guidelines.
THI-1 intends to complete the assessment of severe accident management capabilities and implement any appropriate, cost-effective enhancements prior to December 31, 1998. Final scheduling will be in accordance with the THI-l Long Range Plan Implementation Schedule.
